How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication on HeyLoopy
Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your HeyLoopy account. When enabled, you will need both your password and a code from your authenticator app to log in.
Prerequisites
- An authenticator app installed on your phone (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator).
Step-by-step
- Click your profile icon in the top navigation bar.
- Click Security to open your security settings.
- Click Two-Factor Authentication (or navigate to the 2FA settings page).
- Click Activate to begin the setup process.
- Scan the QR code displayed on screen with your authenticator app.
- Enter the verification code from your authenticator app to confirm the setup.
- Save your recovery codes in a secure location. These codes allow you to regain access if you lose your authenticator device.
Using 2FA to Log In
After enabling 2FA:
- Log in with your email and password as usual.
- You will be prompted to enter a verification code from your authenticator app.
- Enter the code and click Verify to complete your login.
Disabling 2FA
- Go to Security > Two-Factor Authentication.
- Click Deactivate and confirm the action.
- You will no longer be prompted for a verification code when logging in.
Recovery Codes
- Recovery codes are single-use codes that let you log in if you lose access to your authenticator app.
- You can generate new recovery codes from the 2FA settings page at any time.
- Store recovery codes securely – treat them like passwords.
Tips
- 2FA significantly improves account security. It is recommended for all users, especially team administrators.
- If you lose your authenticator device and do not have recovery codes, contact your team administrator for assistance.
